WHAT IS THE THIRD PLACE?

Separation is hard. Figuring out how to move forward can feel overwhelming, and conversations often break down along the way.

The Third Place is a mediation practice supporting parents through separation and divorce. I offer a neutral, structured space where you can slow things down, work through conflict, and make thoughtful decisions that support your family.

You don't have to come in already agreeing. You just need to be open to trying a different kind of conversation.

This work sits intentionally between therapy and law. It is not treatment, and it is not litigation. Instead, it's a guided, practical process that helps you have the conversations you've been struggling to have on your own.

We won't focus on who is right or wrong. We'll focus on what matters most and create clear, workable agreements that support your family as you move into the next chapter.

WHO THIS IS FOR

The Third Place is for parents navigating separation or divorce who are looking for a more thoughtful alternative to court.

You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. Conversations might escalate quickly or shut down altogether. You still want to make careful, child-centered decisions, but it's hard to get there on your own.

This work is for people who are open to slowing things down and working through what's in front of them, even if you don't agree on everything.

This may be a good fit if you are:
  • Are separating or navigating divorce
  • Looking for an alternative to court
  • Wanting support having hard conversations without things escalating
  • Trying to make thoughtful, child-centered decisions
  • Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin

You don't have to agree on everything to begin. You just need a willingness to show up and work through what's in front of you.

How it works

HOW IT WORKS

Mediation is a structured, guided process designed to help you move through difficult decisions with more clarity and less overwhelm.

We begin with a consultation to understand what is bringing you in and whether mediation is the right fit. From there, sessions focus on helping you communicate more effectively, work through areas of disagreement, and make thoughtful decisions together.

We'll move at a steady pace, focusing on the issues that matter most. This may include parenting plans, scheduling, transitions between homes, communication, and other co-parenting concerns.

The process is neutral and intentional. No one is rushed, and no one is pushed to agree before they are ready.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.

What to expect:
  1. Consultation - We meet to understand your situation and what you're hoping to work through
  2. Mediation sessions - We work through decisions together at a pace that feels manageable
  3. Agreements - We create clear, workable plans you can move forward with

WHY MEDIATION

Mediation gives parents the opportunity to make decisions for their family in a more thoughtful, less adversarial way.

It creates space to make decisions with more intention, rather than reacting in the middle of conflict.

It can help you:

This work is especially valuable when the goal is not just to move through a separation, but to create a more workable path on the other side.
